A straightforward telling of the folk story, with a long, lovely dance sequence in the middle that is the reason to watch.
This is the one film in the archive where our best source is a Betamax tape. The broadcast added a modern narration track; we kept the audio as broadcast and note the original was silent with benshi accompaniment.
