Momotarō: Umi no Shinpei (Momotaro, Sacred Sailors)

A feature, not a short, and again propaganda, but with long passages of pure animation: the parachute training, the shadow play, the song in the jungle. Its influence on the post-war generation is well documented.

Our source is a two-tape VHS recording of a 1980s broadcast; the join between tapes falls in a silent passage and is nearly invisible. This is the largest title in the archive.

Because of that size it is the slowest thing we publish. The web copy is being cut down from the joined transfer and is not up yet; the still on this page is from the master.
